Rediscovering My Love of Short Stories

I love reading. Always have. Ever since elementary school, and those fantastic Scholastic Book Fairs, I’ve enjoyed picking up a book and diving in.

Getting into a story and becoming lost in their world, is a great way to slow down time. You become immersed and can disconnect from the everydayness of life.

As I wrote about earlier this month: I miss reading. Since time constrains are the main reason I haven't been able to dive into a novel lately, I decided to get back into short stories.

A recent favorite series has been Nameless by Dean Koontz. I read the 'first season' of Nameless, a six story collection, a few years back.

In this world, Nameless, the vigilante avenger, has to dispense justice when the law fails. They were perfect vignettes, that allowed me to jump in and out of Nameless' world one hour at a time.

So, I was happy to learn they released a second season. From time-to-time, I forget how amazing short stories can be. A great short will serve as a respite from your day. Exactly what I've been craving these days.

Now I welcome you to also pick-up a short story. Dive into a vignette that allows you to disconnect from your day-to-day, even if only for an hour. Have a favorite of your own? Share it with me! I'd love to add more to my tbr list.
