I Miss Reading
The last book I read to completion was Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline. I finished it on October 27, 2024. I listened to The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene earlier this year and finished it on April 8, 2025.
I also picked up The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin sometime in August 2024. More than a year later, and I’m still roughly 55% of the way through that one.
These are terrible stats for someone who has read at least a book a month since 2012.
Reading has always been one of my favorite ways to relax and decompress. I have fond memories of spending large chunks of uninterrupted time during my summers in the Dominican Republic as a youth.
Nothing like sitting under a tree, enjoying a cool Caribbean breeze, and diving into the latest Goosebumps or Animorphs.
I miss those days of leisure. I miss being able to read as much as I want, whenever I want.
These days, it feels like my time is not my own. Parenthood, or at least this era, takes up whatever leisure time you once had.
I know I’ll get back to reading regularly again. I look forward to the next book I can crack open while sitting under a tree and enjoying a cool breeze.
