2025 Philly Pen Show

I recently attended my first pen show—the 2025 Philly Pen Show!

After three years of researching and engaging with the fountain pen community online, I decided to attend one of the well-known gatherings in person.

Making the decision even easier was Hansel, a dear friend from High School, saying he was game to attend, too.

We arrived on the first day, from our different cities, and I made a beeline to PenRealm’s table. I had an appointment with Kirk Speer, so that he could grind two of my LAMY 2000s.

Some highlights

In addition to the pen show fun, we were able to explore some of Philly, too. We loved checking out Omoi Life Goods, grabbing a cheeseteak at Ishkabibbles, and had an amazing dinner at Pizzeria Beddia.

Seeing Hansel and playing catch-up made the trip worth it. Also, getting to meet Kirk and having him grind two more of my pens was the icing on the cake. Kirk is my favorite nibmeister, and I highly recommend him for any nib service you might need. I have four nibs done by him, and they’re four of my favorite writers, but more on that in another post.

All the online reviews recommended the Philly Pen Show as an excellent first show. I can confidently say they are right. The scale of the event made it feel intimate, and there wasn't the chaotic energy you typically find at trade shows. So I'd recommend it for first-timers, too. It's a wonderful experience overall.
